‘ SANTWANAM' —A SHORT STAY HOME: A Major Project of Rotary Cochin Central:

Chairman: Rtn. PP. PHF. S K K. Nair.

Concept
The proposal is to provide a short stay shelter for children and young women who suddenly by unexpected turn of events become destitute without any help, support or even shelter. By sheer fate they are left alone, may be by accident, by suicide of Guardians, or even by Nature's fury.

The Department for Welfare of Children and Women has been finding it difficult to provide immediate accommodation for such mothers and kids. The Law relating to Care and Protection of Women and Children prescribes that they be accommodated in recognized foster homes until competent authority, which is a Committee, finds a suitable place for permanent shelter. Our Club proposes to take a humble initiative in this direction by promoting a Humanitarian Project under Community Service.

Vision–

  • To provide a safe abode for young women & children who are in need of assistance
  • To help them identify safe orphanage/centers which will facilitate their rehabilitation
  • To sponsor children in such orphanages until they reach 10 th standard
  • To be a responsible non-government organization.
